The Story of Calder
---
The Calder Initiative was started in February 2021. However, the vision came two years earlier. The founder of The Calder Initiative, Jordan had been sitting in his prayer room when the Lord spoke a new mission over him: to Heal the World and Save the People. To Jordan, this new mission was a new frontier. It was a way to share the testimony of Jesus in any possible way through any possible avenue to anyone willing to listen. An initiative, is defined as "An act or strategy intended to resolve a difficulty or improve a situation; a fresh approach to something," (Lexico). It was a call to do the work that few were doing (Matthew 9:37) and to lay foundations where there were none (Romans 15:20). The Calder Initiative, as a community to stand behind, thus became a reality. But why Calder? Apart from being Jordan's middle name, it didn't have much spiritual meaning. However, the Lord, doing good for those who love Him according to His purpose (Romans 8:28), brought a further revelation to the name. It turns out the word Calder comes from the early Common Brittonic language, meaning "hard or violent waters" or "rocky waters" or "rushing waters." So The Calder Initiative, in essence, meant The "Rushing Waters" Initiative... and man did that speak volumes. We are a community of disciples, sent by God, to help the lost, broken, and/or impoverished peoples through the rushing waters of life. To trudge upstream, against the flow of the world, taking the hands of those who ride the river of lies towards an unseen, impending doom. Our hope is that through our efforts many will turn against the rushing waters and trudge on with endurance towards a greater promise. Our hope is that provision for people financially, physically, and spiritually will show them the power and love of Jesus. Our hope is in the coming King, who will return and reign. May the Lord do whatever He wills with this ministry. Maranatha, come Lord Jesus!
The Future
---
The future for us is unknown. We are here because God has us here. However, while we have the opportunity we will use everything we got to share the good news to those who will listen. Though our team is small, we know our God is big. We don't doubt what He could do through us and pray continually He works through us. We are young disciples still learning how to navigate the life of a Jesus-follower, but we have a burning passion to see The Great Commission of Matthew 28 furthered and not forgotten. We ask that you would consider us in your prayers for the future of out ministry.
